In my last post, how to keep your home protected from termites, it is mentioned that boric acid is a good way to get rid of termites.
I want to explain a little about boric acid as termite treatment in this post. Boric acid (aka borax) was originally used around the 1980s for the control of ants and cockroaches. It was also used as an herbicide and fungicide. It was so effective on pest control that it was even used as an insect repellent in insulation.
As boric acid was used widely different studies came out. So-called experts exposed that boric acid has been linked to adverse effects on human health, but they also agreed that the risks are minimal because of its method of application.
Anyway, it is now one of the most used chemicals out there for pest control because it is so effective and economical. Not only that, boric acid is known to be non-toxic to beneficial insects and animals. These are only a few reasons why boric acid is so effective in controlling termites.
